MOJ: “You Treat Me Bad”

“You Treat Me Bad”

Julian Vilante: some people call him Julie cool, some people call him Mr. Vilante, and some people call him… The Master. However, we on the west coast call him the “Baddest Mutha Nutha” On Two Feet, and he takes that as a compliment. By now you’re probably wondering who is this guy to deserve such a eulogy. Well, to put the words into proper perspective, I have to break it down for you. if its not his martial art kicks that can decapitate a man’s head with the snap of his leg, if its not his music that gives you a spintingling chills, if its not his looks that make women scream his name during concerts, then its his humbleness and vanity that makes him who he really is. As a 12 year old boy he excelled both in music and sports. His melodic compositions on the piano, soon gained recognition, and it wasn’t too long before he started producing music for school Anthems. At the same time he was heavily active in the martial arts as well. He received his 5th degree Black Belt in Take Won Do, wining 3 national titles.
After graduating from College, he pursued his passion for music and gained mass recognition with two of the biggest dance hits “ Crying in the Dark” , and “I’ll think of you”. To this day, I still hear those songs every time I travel to some corner of the world. His music continues to grow globally, Like a fine wine, it only gets better with time. Now with the well established catalogue of such hits as “You treat me bad”, “Feel the Force”, “Fool 2 believe”, “Let the music take control”, “Play @ your own risk” and my all time personal favorite “Pray”, Julian continues to capture new audience. He is well established as one of the most diverse talents in today’s music. A typical trade mark of Vilante, who tends to cover all genera of music styles in his Albums. Notably, Master Of Jam II, which took the music scene by storm. There was Hip-Hop, Rap, House, New jack swing, Techno, R&B, all on one C.D. His diversity in music is unparalleled. No other artist that I know would dare to deviate from the bread & butter music they are known for . MTV show MADE show cased two songs Crying In The Dark, and Techno Madness from Master Of Jam II . Now for the upcoming show called My Sweet Sixteen which will feature the new cut Play at Your Own Risk, shows his popularity with the new generation of music fan. I love the Melodic progression that is used on this Album. Just like before, he takes you up the mountain top with the “Play at Your Own Risk” and “Let me Ride”, and then he slows it down with “Angel” and “Get in the Groove” to let you catch your breath. You see, Julian Vilante is not an ordinary human being, he is a class of his own, and only few people reside there. There is a saying that goes… Jack of all trades master of none, well Julian turns that expression one hundred and eighty degrees around. He is the master of all trades and jack of none. Having the chance to be around him during his release of “You treat me bad”, I found out a lot of interesting things about his unique talent.
One day, I had an opportunity to sit in one of his sessions, where he was laying down some tracks. I soon noticed that this is not an ordinary artist we are dealing with here. There was no producer or vocal coach, there were no musicians, Just Julian, recording engineer, and yours truly. For the first time in a long time I observed an artist carry the load all by himself. There I was, sitting at the corner observing the Master at work as he laid down the Drum tracks, bass, guitar, and keyboard. His fingers moved up and down the instruments performing in perfect harmony. Now that’s talent! One thing is clear, phonies fall of the mountain top, but innovators who gradually build their way from a solid foundation make it to the top and they stay there. Julian certainly qualifies as one of the innovators. Simply put, The Master of his craft!
